Running for RA

Those that know me know that I love to run, and those that know me well know I’ve faced hardships that threatened to end my running.  Such situations help me to appreciate and use what I have, and keep me motivated to give back when I can.

My newest challenge is the Hallucination 100 Mile Ultra Marathon in September, and from the start I wanted to make it about something bigger than myself, that this journey would serve to motivate and inspire others to venture onto their own roads less traveled...

And it all started over dinner one night...

My friend, Lorrie, is a warm, energetic little lady with the heart of a lion.  Her body, unfortunately, is typically unable to match the fervor with which she desires to live life due to RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis).  This motivated me to want to be part of the solution where RA is concerned.

Her response, through tears, what that she was blown away, honored, speechless.  I reminded her that she is my hero, and that as she fights the fight she does, it motivates me to use what I've been given, desiring to live each day well.

Face your fears…Live your dreams!

It also stirred my desire to be an inspirational force, that those that can, those that have no excuse, would.  Would walk, or run, or play ball, or, well, you get the idea - that choices would be made to create a true quality of life, not the typical relentless pursuit of all that fades.

Of course, I invite you along the journey to the Ultra through my blog and hope that you stop in regularly, drop me a note, let me know how your own journey is progressing!

Will you take a leap with me?

And yes, the time has come to ask you to consider partnering with me on a fund raising goal.   I'm putting myself out there - attempting to run 100 miles to benefit RA research.   Will you please give?

Say Hi to my friend Lorrie and my wife Pam!
At the start of my 45 mile run on my 45th birthday with my friend, and RA sufferer, Lorrie.

Had to get a picture with my bride (Pam) of 25 years, too!
